Artist Statement - Leslie Culbertson
Making jewelry to adorn and empower women with beautiful objects has been my lifelong passion. I have worked in precious metals, but today my focus is to encompass any object of beauty to bring both traditional and unconventional elements into the piece of jewelry. It could be a piece of driftwood, coral, sea glass, pearls, or a perfectly shaped stone with worn edges suggesting its ancient course through the ocean.

As a jeweler and metalsmith, I enjoy combining a large selection of materials collected worldwide. Jewelry has been a focal point of all my travels. My love of the materials, stones, gems, pearls, and anything found in nature has led me on many adventures. The hunt is part of my infatuation, whether it is on a beach, at the local flea market or through bead stores around the world. I love collecting beautiful objects.

My inspiration comes from a love of the medium and materials, and all other factors that give my life beauty; the ocean, nature, ancient cultures, our current culture, the healing qualities of stones and color, and friends.
